Speaking at Naivasha town on Tuesday, Speaker Kihika said that development will be realised in the area only if county leaders work together towards achieving the goal.

She said that personal interests and ideologies should not divide the county, but rather leaders should forge on ways of working together as a team for the benefit of all the county residents.

“We might have different ideologies and interests as politicians, but those should not divide us and create animosity among us,” said Speaker Kihika.

Speaker Kihika said that as leaders they are supposed to commit themselves to work and tackle the problems facing the people so that a possible and permanent solution is found to those problems.

She intimated that residents are facing many challenges including poverty which she says needs an immediate attention of leaders from the region to solve. She added that the County Assembly will focus on passing policies and laws that will benefit the Nakuru County people.

Kihika encouraged county MCAs to support the policies being passed by the government for development purposes. She at the same time urged Naivasha women to apply for government funds and empower themselves economically.

She said that the county government has put in place policies that will ensure women are empowered both socially and economically adding that empowering women is an integral part of achieving socio-economic development.
