In a statement on her Facebook page Thursday, the vocal leader said that though women have already achieved a lot in their bid to make their presence felt in all the economical, social and political fields, they are not there yet and more needs to be done to fully achieve the same.

''Over the years, women in Kenya and from all over the world have made great strides socially, economically and politically. However, we are not quite there yet. In line with this year's theme #PressForProgress, more still needs to be done,'' wrote the Senator.

Coming at a time when women in the urban setting seem to be more enlightened and empowered than their rural counterparts, the young leader stressed on the need for women to ensure that each and every person enjoys the goodies that come with the success.

She called for more and more effort towards leveling the ground to ensure that both groups of women are on the same platform.

''While some women in urban settings may have reaped the benefits of women enlightenment and empowerment, the same cannot be said of most of their counterparts in rural areas. Each one of us should, therefore, keep alive the #PressForProgress clarion call until such a time when every woman, in whatever corner of the world will be able to fully celebrate this important day,'' added Kihika.
