Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has called for national unity following Supreme Court's verdict validating President Uhuru Kenyatta's disputed October 26 re-election.

In a statement on her twitter account moments after the 6-judge bench threw out two petitions filed challenging the re-election, Kihika also hailed the court saying that it has fully represented the interest and will of the bigger portion of Kenyans.

''I believe that the supreme will of the people has prevailed.I now hope that we can come together as a nation,'' reads the tweet in part.

She further urged political leaders to bring to a halt the prolonged electioneering period stressing on the need for the nation to focus on other development agenda.

''Its time to get past the dividing electioneering period and get to the important task of building our beautiful country Kenya together,'' says Kihika.

The court, while dismissing the petitions, said that the petitioners (ex-Kilome lawmaker Harun Mwau and the Njonjo Mue and Khelef Khalifa duo) failed to present solid arguments and evidence that could lead to a nullification.
