Residents of Kihoto Estate in Naivasha are now living in fear, following a sharp increase in water levels in the nearby troubled Lake Naivasha.
An area resident Alice Waithira, said that the water levels have increased with a radius of more than 100 meters towards their houses.
Waithira argued that it was not frequently raining in the area, yet the lake keeps on increasing its water levels.
Her sentiments were echoed by Thomas Ngure, who said that they had constructed permanent houses and were left with no words but to pray that it does not rain as predicted.
On his part, Naivasha Sub County Commissioner Mohammed Kemboi said that the owners were cautioned about buying the riparian land but they ignored.
He said that they just ignored the directive and now it is upon them to find a solution, after they were tricked by conmen.
The Commissioner pointed out to Kihoto estate as the most sensitive, as the locals relied on water from wells some of which had flooded.
He at the same time advised that the residents, who were staying at the pipe line area, to vacate, as water level were rising at an alarming state.
