The forum, to be graced by ODM party leader Raila Odinga, seeks to discuss youth issues through mentorship and training. It will be staged at the Nyamira Primary School grounds.

The Kikao forum is part of the events organised in counties headed by governors allied to the ODM party.

A similar one was held in Kisii County in October. Other counties that have hosted the forum are Mombasa, Kakamega, and Kilifi.

“This is purely a youth forum, where they will engage with Raila and the county leadership on issues affecting them and the country at large, and get answers. It should not be a popularity contest,” Bosire said told the Star.

He urged youth to vie for seats in the 2017 polls, to shape their destiny and change the country's leadership.

“ODM is a leadership that accommodates the youth and we want the youth to play a key role in defining the destiny of this country, especially in the 2017 elections.”

“That is the only way they will define their future and change the leadership of this country,” he added.

The ODM treasurer downplayed fears of rivalry between Cord leaders noting that they had agreed to ensure the success of the event.

Governor John Nyagarama is expected to face off West Mugirango MP James Gesami for the ODM ticket in the 2017 gubernatorial election.

There are fears the rivalry between the duo could play out and overshadow the meeting.
