A bodaboda rider lost his life on the spot while three others were seriously injured in an accident involving a Prado and a bodaboda along the Kikuyu-Nairobi Road.
The Prado was carrying two children aged five and nine who were being taken to school. The children and their mother were seriously injured and were rushed to Kikuyu District Hospital.
A milk vendor who witnessed the accident, George Mugo, said the driver tried to avoid hitting the rider who was trying to overtake a lorry before colliding head on with the Prado.
“The driver hit potholes and the vehicle overturned. The rider was hit and fell metres away and his bike was damaged,” said Mugo.
Speaking to journalists a bodaboda rider in Kikuyu Daniel Mwangi said that this was the third accident causing death to one of them as a result of poor roads. He explained that the potholes along the road have been a serious problem to motorists plying the route. He urged the county government to repair the road.
Kikuyu OCPD Mutune Maweu confirmed that the accident which occurred at 6:30am on Wednesday.
“The three were rushed to Kikuyu Hospital by good Samaritans. The rider died on the spot,” said Maweu.
