Kikuyu deputy county commissioner, Elias Kithaura has called upon administrators in the area to re-dedicate themselves to serving Kenyans in a bid to make the country a better working nation.
Speaking from his Kikuyu office on Monday, Kithaura appealed to administrators including chiefs and their assistants to re-double their efforts in ensuring that security is provided to all Kenyans and that crime is brought to check.
The deputy county boss also directed chiefs and their assistants to be vigilant and to ensure that outsiders are not given refuge in the region.
He maintained that the administrators would be held personally liable if any aliens were found within their jurisdictions.
According to Kithaura, vigilance among security organs is paramount especially at this particular time when intelligence reports indicate that illegal immigrants have fled urban centres and are seeking refuge in rural areas to escape the ‘Usalama Watch' initiative.
Kithaura further added that police bosses throughout the county have been directed to conduct patrols aimed at flushing out those who may have eluded police and were hiding in the area.
He called for strict enforcement of the alcohol laws, saying that no country could develop if it allowed its citizens to indulge in alcohol at the expense of participating in development initiatives.
At the same time, the deputy county boss urged area residents to be pro-active and demand improved services from the civil service.
