The Agikuyu Council of Elders in Eldoret have condemned Huruma MCA Peter Chomba for interfering with its responsibilities.
Addressing journalists, Regional Coordinator Paul Gathuo Kimani accused some elected leaders of stepped out of their mandate and defending the hawkers who were going against county by-laws.
“We want to tell MCA Peter Chomba, you cannot take the responsibilities of the Agikuyu council of elders in Uasin Gishu County. The Mumbi house elders have sat down with the Kalenjin elders and they are finding a solution to the hawkers’ menace,” said Mr. Kimani.
They told the MCA to represent and protect the interest of people in the county assembly.
"He should desist from taking the county’s issues and discussing it with other leaders from other counties. Let us solve our own issues right from here,” he said.
The elders will meet Governor Jackson Mandago to iron out hawkers' issues.
