Kikuyu Council of Elders has denounced Royal Media Services owner SK. Macharia over remarks he made concerning the 2007 general elections.
This is after Macharia refused to apologise to the community over claims that Opposition leader Raila Odinga had won in the 2007 polls.
While appearing before a Senate Committee a few weeks ago, the business mogul said that Raila had won the poll but that Mwai Kibaki was rigged into office.
Speaking during a traditional ceremony at Ndaka-ini area in Murang'a County on Monday, the elders said Macharia refused to retract his statement and honour summons despite numerous pleas.
"We gave him the mandatory 14 days to apologise to the community for exposing them to attacks by other communities especially at this electioneering period,” said Kiarii Rugami, the Murang’a branch county chairman.
As a curse against the media magnate, the elders blocked Macharia from performing Kikuyu rituals or presiding over a Kikuyu ceremony.
The ceremony which was attended by more than 100 elders from Mount Kenya region, was conducted near Macharia's home in Gatanga Constituency.
Council's national deputy chairman Ndichu Njuguna said the exercise would serve as a warning to any other person with intentions to set the Gikuyu community against other communities in the country.
