Led by the Secretary General Rev Peter Munga, KCE has lamented over improper handling of politics in Kajiado and Narok counties have been handled.

Speaking on turhsday, Munga said the two counties, which are largely occupied by the Maasai community has not been handled with care, spelling doom for the ruling party in the August elections.

“We have watched in horror as one Maasai leader after the other decamped from Jubilee to the Opposition, with no visible corresponding effort to respond to the damage caused. Their grievances are known but have gone unattended,” he said.

The elders are now calling on President Kenyatta to intervene and arrest the situation before it is too late.

“KCE is of the view the President restricts himself to seeking his presidential vote and allow the electorate to make own choices of who to elect at other levels,” Rev Munga said.

In 2013, President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga split the vote in Kajiado and Narok nearly evenly in a tight race.

According to reports, Deputy President William Ruto and Joseph Nkaissery have been accused of interfering with local politics in Kajido and Narok, ignoring the concerns of key leaders in the process.
