The owners and contractors of ill-fated Kikuyu Town and Gacharage, Kiambaa buildings will be arrested and charged in court.
This was said on Wednesday by Kiambu Executive in charge of County Planning and Development Eunice Muthoni when she visited the Kikuyu Town building that collapsed on Tuesday Morning.
Muthoni noted that the owner of the Kikuyu buiding had not renewed his Development Plan since year 2005 as required by the law.
"From our records we have established that the approved development plan that the person had is from 2005. According to law, a plan lapses in two years. Therefore, if you have not done any development after two years, you are supposed to renew the plan which was not done in this case," said Muthoni.
The Executive also observed that the building could have also collapsed due to lack of inspection by county engineers.
"The area is enclosed and our officers who come for regular inspections could have been denied access to the building," she added.
She asked other developers to adhere to construction guidelines or bear the brunt of the law.
