Kikuyu Sub-county deputy county commissioner Elias Kithaura has revealed that so far Kikuyu Sub-county has 980 working clusters. He added that the administrative officers are able to respond and attend to the citizens in any time of need.

“Although we are emphasising Nyumba Kumi, cooperating with the police and any administration officer is important in addressing security issues,” Kithaura said.

Area OCPD Maweu Mutune said that the police are now in a better position to provide security. He added that the police are trying their best to provide the needed and even extra security in various neighbourhoods.

Maweu said that with police reforms like the life assurance and the enhanced mobility of the officers, they are executing their mandate objectively and responding to the places they are needed on time.

Kithaura is optimistic about the security of the sub-county due to the strong Nyumba Kumi initiative. He has assured that the completion of the bypass road will not affect the area’s security since residents are already used to the Nyumba Kumi structures. He said that they expect development and upgrading of the residents’ status.

“Security will be enhanced as we develop. The road will bring in a lot of unknown people into the area and residents must be vigilant. They should be able to identify all neighbours and make sure that they are aware of the work they do and what time they are available in the area,” added Kithaura.
