Wainaina expressed his frustrations in the increase of crime in the ward with youths being the most involved in the heinous act that greatly affect the women and children in the society.

He said that women and children are the most vulnerable members of the society and majority have reported to the authorities of being abused by their husbands and sons in the society who are under the influence of the brew.

The MCA faulted the Nyumba Kumi and community policing unit in the ward alleging that they are sleeping in their jobs and soon they will be fished out from the office to allow leaders who are willing to work for the betterment of the ward.

The legislator, who was speaking on Monday at Kidfarmco Primary school when he attended a baraza where the senior chief, AP Inspector and public health and environment officers were present, said that Kikuyu ward is suffering from leaders’ neglect and the time has come for them to pull up their socks.

He claimed that cases of rape, bestiality and incest have become common in the area thus advocated for the chiefs to be vigilant in taming the heinous acts.

He appealed to residents especially food vendors, to own permits in the area or risk being arrested by the public health officers.

He urged the locals to conserve the environment and help in planting trees in the county.
