Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has assured Deputy President William Ruto of the support of Central Kenya in the 2022 elections.
Addressing residents when he accompanied the DP to a service at St Francis Chaptarit Catholic Church in Mosoriot, Nandi County on Sunday, the outspoken Jubilee legislator said that the people of Central Kenya were firmly behind the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto."We are in the forefront of ensuring that Jubilee's Big four agenda is achieved in the next four years and we as central Kenyan people are behind President Uhuru and Ruto's government," said the legislator."We should now focus on development but for 2022 we have DP Ruto as our Jubilee candidate and we shall support him fully," he added. The Kikuyu MP, who is seen as Ruto’s point man in Central Kenya further hit out at those taking advantage of the historic handshake between President Uhuru and opposition chief Raila Odinga to advance their 2022 ambitions.Ichung’wa said the handshake will lose meaning if politicians keep using the opportunity to pursue their political interests at the expense of uniting the country."What is now clear is that the handshake has been used to push political agenda of some leaders. It’s now about the sharing of positions," said Ichung’wa.On his part, Ruto asked leaders to be honest in their calls for unity and the building bridges initiative among Kenyans."As leaders, we should be honest, exercise truth and not propaganda; the integrity of our actions should guide us," said Ruto.
