Addressing the media at Kikuyu Town on Monday, the MP said that security is needed in institutions of higher learning and other business premises following the terror attack on Garissa University.

The MP called for more deployment of police officers to all schools, colleges and universities in the sub county.

“We must learn from the previous incidents and take precautionary measures that will guarantee safety of Kenyans,” he said.

Ichungwa said that security of students should be the first priority adding that university and college managements must assure safety of learners.

He said that many students in campuses across the country are living in fear after 148 of their colleagues were massacred at the Garissa University attack.

Ichungwa at the same time urged the government to change tactics being used to fight terror groups. He stated that terror agents have changed tactics hence the need for security agencies to do so in order to fight them effectively.

Ichungwa also called on leaders across the political divide to work together and share ideas that will help curb terrorism.

He said that blame games and accusations will not work noting that many Kenyans who lost their relatives are grieving.

“It is not time to accuse and blame each other, we must support each other and fight terrorism,” he said.

The MP asked Kikuyu residents to remain alert and report suspicious individuals and acts to the police.
