Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa has defended the parastatal appointments by President Uhuru Kenyatta as Kenyans especially the youth continue to feel betrayed by the 'digital regime'.
Ichung'wa speaking in an interview to a local TV station he said that the problem of youth unemployment cannot be solved through appointments to parastatal boards.
"If we are talking about the question of youth employment then parastatal board appointments are not the real jobs for the youths. This country wants to utilize their full energy in organizations where they will impact positively on the lives of Kenyans and they cannot do that in the boards," said Ichung'wa.
The MP noted that the boards' work is policy formulation which he said requires experience and wisdom of the elderly.
Ichung'wa however observed that the appointments had a considerable number of young people whom he said the media and the opposition have opted to give a blind eye to.
"Around 40 appointees are below the age of 35 and therefore I think the youths are quite well represented. Let us appreciate what has been done," he said.
