Kithaura said the allocations through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) kitty had contributed greatly to the construction of police stations and residential houses for the police within the sub-county of Kikuyu.

He added that so far, the CDF allocations had aided the construction of a police station and smart houses for police in Ondiri, with extra support from the neighbouring community.

“This is a clear indication of the leaders’ resolve to provide security for their people. There has been calm in the areas that have benefitted from the projects and the residents have been served with a lot of selflessness,” he said.

The administrator announced that police houses constructed through CDF funds will be commissioned soon in Riunderi.

“The police will be able to serve the residents better if they are also motivated and are also taken as humans. Earlier on, police officers were living in shanties while being expected to provide security for people living in big mansions,” he said.

Area OCPD Maweu Mutune said the government is also making progress to renovate police stations and construct more structures in the police station.

He cited the recently completed police residential flats within Kikuyu police station and a children and gender centre funded by the Swedish government that will be commissioned next month. The station also has a waiting bay which is currently under construction for efficient service delivery.

Mutune said that police stations will soon be “beautiful with smart buildings and ample space for holding their suspects”.
