Kikuyu residents have been urged to use flyovers and avoid crossing the southern bypass as it is a crime. Speaking from her office on Monday, Kikuyu base commander inspector Elizabeth Wakuloba said that most of the residents ignore the flyover that was constructed in the area.
The base commander stated that most residents were ignorant as they were endangering their lives.
Inspector Wakuloba stated that it was a serious crime to cross such highways in areas where flyovers have been constructed.
She added that anyone who will be arrested will be prosecuted in accordance to the law. “I want to warn all residents in this region against crossing highways instead of making use of flyovers. This is a serious offence that can land you in serious trouble. Adhere to this rule in order to avoid being on the wrong side of the law,” she said.
She added that people should value their lives more than anything else.
Julius Githae, a resident in the area, said that the reason why people cross the highways is because the flyovers are few in the area and one is forced to walk a long distance in order to access them.
He admitted to having committed the crime on several occasions but stated he wasn’t aware that it was a crime.
