Kikuyu Day Secondary School will have a reason to smile after the construction of a modern dormitory was completed on Friday which will transform the school into a boarding school.
The grand opening of the dormitory which was commissioned by area Member of Parliament Ichungwa Kimani is meant to improve the education in the school which was in poor state due to lack of facilities for conducive learning.
The students from the institution were walking as far as 2Kilometer from their homes to school which it was hectic for learning due to exhaustion of the long distance.
The MP said that the dormitory was funded by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) was the first phase of project to be embarked this year and plans are underway to undertake phase two which will include water projects in Kikuyu schools.
The legislator who was speaking on Friday in the institution revealed that plans are underway in constructing classrooms in the school as well as Kidfarmaco Primary School in the same sub county which has few classes but many pupils.
He said that he will invest greatly and aggressively in education to change future generation which depends on educated Kenyans to achieve vision 2030.
The law maker called on well wishers to come out handy to invest in education of the young learners saying they are the future leaders of Kenya.
He further lauded his counterparts for embracing education in their constituencies citing Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a and Kiambu MP Jude Njomo terming it as good leadership.
