Kikuyu Deputy County Commissioner Paul Pamba has warned chiefs sleeping on their jobs.
Pamba threatened to sack chiefs who are not fighting illicit liquor in their jurisdiction.
Pamba said that the provincial administration is the government’s eye at the grass root level and said it is their responsibility to make sure residents obey laws and orders.
“Chiefs and their assistants have a role to see orders at villages are followed and respected especially the fight against illicit liquor,” said Pamba.
He urged chiefs to step up the fight against consumption of illegal liquor among youth. “ Who else will end the consumption of illicit liquor if chiefs fail,” wondered Pamba.
At the same time, Pamba said that it is residents responsibility to help to fight illicit brew.
Pamba was speaking in his office in Kikuyu on Tuesday during a meeting with the local chiefs.
Meanwhile Kikuyu Township Ward MCA, Binary Wainaina has vowed to support new deputy commissioner in the fight against illicit liquor.
“ I have pressure to work with Pamba in ending the sale of illicit liquor,” said Wainaina.
