Kiambu governor William Kabogo has warned that the Kikuyu community will not coerced to vote DP William Ruto in 2022 elections adding that they have freedom to choose whomsoever the like.
Ruto is preparing for 2022 elections and has since backed reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta who has also promised to ‘pay’ back.
At Thika town on Thursday, Kabogo said the community’s support to Ruto is not ‘automatic’ adding that they will accommodate all politicians on the top race.
“Ruto should not be assured that he will score from central Kenya. We are not slaves to anyone and we shall embrace all aspirants,” said Kabogo.
In a total contrast of his recent soft spot on Ruto, he added: “We shall make choice based on someone’s policies and if you can’t impress, we have several options.”
Although he has never come public, Kabogo is said to have blamed the DP on his unexpected loss in Jubilee primaries to his rival Ferdinand Waititu.
Ruto has also come under intense criticism from Nairobi governorship aspirant Peter Kenneth, who also accuses him of rigging in Senator Mike Sonko in Jubilee nominations.
