Youthful Starehe constituency aspirant Steve Mbogo says Central Kenya communities will vote for opposition due to ‘harsh’ economic times the country is facing.
The region is perceived to be President Uhuru Kenyatta’s stronghold following his overwhelming score in 2013 elections.
But Mbogo, who hails from the region, says inability of Jubilee government to solve economic challenges will lead to Kenyatta’s downfall in August.
“Politics are dynamic in nature and no one should be assured that he controls a certain region,” Mbogo told enthusiastic NASA supporters in Siaya on Monday.
“I am sure that Jubilee will lose substantially in Central Kenya and if you don’t believe that, August is knocking the door,’ he added.
Jubilee strategists have placed a number of counties from Central and Rift Valley as their strongholds and instead put focus in a number of counties viewed as tossups.
In Nairobi, the youthful aspirant is facing stiff competition from musician Charles Njagi alias Jaguar and activist Boniface Mwangi.
