Former Tanzania president Jakaya Kikwete will not attend President-Elect Uhuru Kenyatta inauguration on Tuesday.

Kikwete was among world leaders who had been invited to grace the occasion.

He cited personal commitments as the reason why he wont make it to Kasarani for the swearing in.

”I congratulate you President Uhuru Kenyatta for being reelected as President of Kenya. I thank you for the invitation to attend your inauguration. I regret I will not be able to make it due to a prior commitment. I wish you all the best and success in your second term,” said Jakaya Kikwete on twitter.

Tanzanian president John Maghufuli, President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and Israel president Benjamin Netanyahu are already in the country to attend the Kenyan historic event.

President Kenyatta inauguration is set to be held on Tuesday at Safaricom Sports Center Kasarani Stadium on Tuesday.

Thousands of supporters have already camped at the grounds amid tight security.
