Meru Governor Aspirant Kilemi Mwaura Mwiria has praised Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) as a friendly, development conscious and resource oriented party.

Speaking during his defection to MCC, Mwiria expressed confidence that he will beat incumbent Governor Peter Munya hands down during the next general polls in a race that political analysts would term as the clash of titans.

The outspoken leader affirmed that his move to join Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua was not influenced by anyone.

I am coming to a party that is not only friendly but also development conscious," said Kilemi Mwaura, as quoted by Standard.

He added: “Impressed in the structure of the political party that is more resource oriented.”

The entry of Mwiria into the Meru gubernatorial race has changed the politics of the region. The aspirant will be banking on the support of Mutu and other leaders of MCC to dethrone Munya from power.

The decision of Mwiria to join Mutua’s political outfit is a great milestone for him as he looks forward to retaining his seat. This will be the first time in the history of this nation for MCC to field candidates in the governorship and other position.
