The Kilifi County Assembly has received a bill aimed at the formation of a people's assembly.County Assembly Speaker Jimmy Kahindi said he received the bill on Friday and approved it.He said the bill will be handed over to the business committee where he is the chairman today (Monday).“I received it on Friday and approved it. It will be handed over to the business committee on Monday for allocation of time,” said Kahindi, as quoted by the Nation.Kahindi said the debate and adoption of the bill may take time since the majority and minority leaders in the assembly will be away on official duties.A section of the MCAs led by Shimo La Tewa MCA Sammy Ndago, Sokoni MCA Gilbert Peru, nominated MCAs Nzula Sahhib and Victoria Mnyazi said they are ready to adopt the proposal.If the bill is passed by the MCAs, Kilifi will join other counties such as Vihiga and Homa Bay that have accepted proposals that seek to push for the opposition's quest for electoral reforms in the country.
