The August 8 polls have proved that Kilifi County is still an Orange Democratic Movement Party zone.
Results from the polls showed that the Raila Odinga-led party won all the seven MP and woman representative seats in the county.Governor Amason Kingi, according to provisional results, showed that he was set for re-election and so was county Senator Stewart Madzayo.Kingi's main challengers were; Gideon Mung’aro of Jubilee Party and Kazungu Kambi of Kadu Asili.As regards the MP seats, in Kaloleni constituency, Paul Katana beat his Jubilee Party rival, Kitsao Ngowa to emerge the winner.According to the Star, the outgoing Kilifi South MP Mustapha Idd of JP was not spared the onslaught following his defeat by ODM’s Ken Chonga.In Malindi, ODM’s Aisha Jumwa easily trounced her opponent Philip Charo of Jubilee to clinch the seat.And in Magarini, Michael Kingi beat Harry Kombe of JP to get the opportunity to represent his constituents in the 12th Parliament.ODM’s Teddy Mwambire beat the outgoing MP Peter Shehe of Jubilee in the polls to clinch the Ganze parliamentary seat.And in Kilifi North, Owen Baya defeated JP’s Esther Kache to become the new MP.Things were not different in Rabai constituency as William Kamoti easily retained his seat after defeating JP’s Kenga Mupe.
