Opposition leader Raila Odinga has yet again claimed that the government is plotting to assassinate Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
Joho, who also doubles's as Raila's deputy, had his security details withdrawn by the government under unclear circumstances at the eve of new year.
Last week at a rally in Migori, Odinga claimed that hit men similar to those who assassinated controversial Nairobi businessman Jacob Juma, were plotting to kill Joho.
"I dare them to kill Joho because I am aware they are planning to do so. We are keen to see that happen," Odinga said at a rally in Kilifi.
He added: "The government must embrace dissenting voices. We don;t have to agree with them all the time and we have a right to do so."
Joho ordered security details out of his compound, moments after they had been reinstated by the government in a move that further angered the government.
