The Kisumu Traffic Department will arrest residents with unattended cattle that have been roaming in Kisumu Central Business District roads.
County Traffic Commandant Andrew Nabei, said the animals presence has been on the rise in the city, hindering transport.
According to Nabei, the animals have been abandoned and feed on grass growing along city avenues.
He said the animals have become a menace in the town and have been linked to several road accidents reported in the county.
“Some cattle are left unattended and some have been spotted sleeping on the roads even at night,” said Nabei.
The Traffic boss noted, an accident involving a Tuk-Tuk and a lorry last week at Nyamasaria, was linked to such cattle on the roads.
Nabei warned of legal action against any cattle owner whose animals will be found straying on the road.
