Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, who is also Wiper Vice Chairman has stressed that unless the opposition remains united, beating President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto is a far fetched dream.

Kilonzo Jr cautioned members of the opposition not to let what happened in the last general elections occur this time round.

“We need a strong opposition candidate but the methodology used should provide for fair exercise. We do not want a replica of what happened in 2002 and 2007 where many political parties merged only to be short-changed in the process,” said Kilonzo Jnr, as quoted by the Standard.

Cord Raila Amolo Odinga, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula have all maintained that they have what it takes to deliver the seat to the opposition if the mandate to be flag bearer.

On is part, Kalonzo has insisted that time round his is not ready for anything to do with diplomacy but he is going for the nation’s top seat.

Many political analysts have argued that the continued delay in the opposition to name its flag bearer is likely to cost them dearly during the next general polls.
