"Raila Tosha" remarks made by Mombasa Senator Ali Hassan Joho on Sunday in Homa Bay County could threaten the unity of opposition coalition Cord, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has now warned.
“These miscalculated statements are causing the coalition to appear like a limping duck. With this, the coalition will soon face its sunset years,” Mutula cautioned.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Mutula said Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and co-principal Moses Wetangula have since chosen not to comment on Joho's remarks, arguing that their silence was based on respect they have for the coalition.
“It is not out of lack of words or platforms that Wiper and Ford-Kenya are not making statements of a similar nature. It is because of political maturity that we have allowed wisdom to prevail over our tongues," he said.
The CORD coalition is yet to settle on a presidential candidate, with the three Principal parties maintaining that each of their party leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula must be the coalition's Presidential flag bearer.
Senator Moses Wetangula launched his Presidential bid on Saturday at the Bomas of Kenya, where he challenged the Cord top leadership to back his Presidential candidature.
