Retired Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo has been appointed as Kenya Airports Authority chairman by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The former police boss, who was shamefully forced to resign from office last month after continued failure to resurrect a flailing police service has been appointed chairman of the highly important KAA.
The appointment was confirmed by the president's office a few moments after Joseph Boinett was named the new IG of Police today.
Kimaiyo, who has had a checkered time in the public service is a career police officer and his appointment to head a key parastatal will raise more questions than answers in the public domain.
Bahati MP kimani Ngunjiri has thanked the president, noting that the president has done a good job to restructure the security docket and hopes that parliament will play the oversight role in approving the new Inspector General of police.
“We want to remain peaceful in the country and thank the president for the good decision of appointing new IG, we hope he will work closely with ‘mwananchi’ to curb insecurity in the country,” said Kimani.
