Elgeyo Marakwet senatorial hopeful David Kimaiyo has exuded confidence in beating the incumbent Senator Kipchumba Murkomen during the forthcoming general elections.
Speakingon Sunday shortly after presenting his nomination papers to IEBC, the former Inspector General of Police dismissed Murkomen's track record as senator, describing him as "petty."
"I will not dwell on petty politics like talking about individuals, because that is what Murkomen has been. I will begin door-to-door campaigns to humbly request for votes," he said.
He further defended his tenure as IG, accusing an unnamed politician from the County of engineering his sacking.
"I wish to let you know that that retirement was engineered by a politician from our county. I will tell the truth when I begin my door-door campaign,” he noted.
Kimaiyo is seeking to unseat Murkomen on a Kanu party ticket.
Murkomen will defend his seat on a Jubilee Party ticket after beating his three rivals during the just concluded party primaries.
