Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa is not new to courting controversy, the had hitting legislator has fashioned himself as a staunch defender of his master.
On Thursday, the MP was trending all over the social media with sections of Kenyans supporting his utterances while others terming him an immature politician. For instance Citizen TV resident political analyst professor Edward Kisiangani advised Ichungwa to be respectful to the opposition in as much as he is in the ruling coalition."I want to give free advice to Ichungwa even if you are in the ruling party you need to demonstrate humility and respect to your competitors," he said."You don't have that humility and it will be costly to you," he added.Ichungwa is a true picture of want it takes for a Kenyan politician to ascend to power by pleasing his masters through utterances that massage their ego.For instance, most politicians who seek political favours from opposition chief Raila Odinga, their best card will be to sing praises for him the same applies to those seeking President Uhuru Kenyatta support.
In 2014, Senior Counsel, Ahmednasir Abdullahi once termed the calibre of leaders as 'test tube' politicians. Politicians who have never been heard but suddenly appear with a bang on the national scene.
He further defines them as a creation of powerful politicians who quickly lose their head and make silly sentiments that portray him and his creators in a bad light.
"Test tube" politicians are not political lapdogs. They are the final product of extreme political engineering. They are pre-programmed by their creator to attack and destroy. A "test tube" politician is a lethal political robot, venomous and vicious," he said.
The big question is, however, with the likes of politicians like Kimani Ichungwa and company as our voices of reason is our nation safe?
