Mathare United secured a draw against Sofapaka on Wednesday and head coach Francis Kimanzi is hopeful the signle point will help distance them from the relegation axe.
The match was played at Narok County Stadium.
KImanzi has however decried the poor state of the stadium and said it cost his boys the much-sought win.
''It was very difficult and also scrappy. I did not like the pitch because it was bumpy and that tends to slow down everything," he said.
"We were also a bit unlucky. We could have scored more than one goal. If I gain one point and Thika gets three then that’s a two point difference. It means we have to work harder in our next match but there is nothing to panic about,” the former Tusker tactician added.
This season, the once sparkling Slum Boys have been struggling but Kimanzi is optimistic the chop will not get them by the end of the season.
''Every game since the season started has been very important because you always want to be in a better position. Sometimes things go wrong but that doesn’t mean that we are panicking. If we keep on playing like we are doing I know we will get some more points,” he added.
