The County government of Uasin Gishu has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) that will see a constituent college established in Eldoret town.
Speaking during the MoU signing at the county headquarters in Eldoret town on Tuesday, Governor Jackson Mandago said setting up of the facility benefit many young men and women who will be seeking to pursue journalism courses.Mandago said his administration would provide any necessary support and facilitation to enable the institution to be set up as soon as possible."I want to thank KIMC for deciding to put up a constituent college in Eldoret and I promise to give them my full support. This institution will not only serve Uasin Gishu residents but also other surrounding 15 counties," said governor Mandago."My government will play a facilitatory role where we have allocated 16 acres of land at Outspan in the outskirts of Eldoret town," he added.The Jubilee allied governor revealed that the national government has purposed to allocate Sh200 million in the 2018/209 financial year to facilitate the construction of the institution.KIMC chairman Charles Kilonzo on his part said they would work closely with the Ministry of Education to see to it that the initiative succeeds.This will be the first KIMC constituent college outside Nairobi in the Rift Vally and Western Region.To be the first to get updates on breaking and trending news in Kenya, send your Whatsapp number to 0740949990.
