Hundreds of freedom fighters in Nyandarua County are set to experience a transformation in their lives after Governor Francis Kimemia promised to facilitate extraction of bullets lodged in their bodies for many decades.
Speaking during the celebrations of Mashujaa day in the county, the governor promised to ensure the victims get treated by the end of the year.

The governor further promised other goodies to the war heroes that will enable them lead a dignified life.
“I ask that a list of all Maumau war heroes be forwarded to me so that we can enrol you for the NHIF. The county will pay for your NHIF premiums so that you enjoy free medication like the rest of the citizens,” remarked governor Kimemia.
On the same note, the governor promised to rehabilitate the Maumau caves in Nyandarua forests and other historic sites associated with the fight for self-rule as a way of honouring the freedom fighters as well as promoting tourism in the county.
