Area residents complained that cases of accidents caused by speeding motorists have risen in the recent past.

Speaking to this writer on Sunday at Kimende trading center, Stella Mbuthia, a trader said erection of bumps will reduce the accidents.

She alleged that motorists are fond of over speeding, putting lives of pedestrians at risk.

“The government should erect bumps along Lari-Kimende-Naivasha road to reduce accidents, pedestrians and traders are in fear of being knocked by careless drivers,” she said.

Mbuthia alleged that motorists have taken the advantage to over speed especially at night.

Jackson Kamiti, a fruit and honey vendor at Kimende alleged that five people have been knocked down in the last one month at the trading centre.

He added that animals that graze along the road are also at risk of being knocked down by the said motorists.

“In fact two cows were knocked down and killed by over speeding vehicle at Uplands center last week,” said Mr Kamiti.

He said that erecting bumps will reduce such cases, and assure pedestrians and other road users of their safety.

Speaking to this writer earlier, Lari sub county police boss Alfred Makomo cautioned motorists against flouting traffic regulations.

He warned that motorists who are fond of over speeding will be arrested and charged in court.

The police boss said that speed cameras have been installed along the road to monitor motorists who over speed, and further warning residents grazing their cattle along the roads.
