A 43 year-old man and his wife were killed by their kin while working on a disputed land in Tseikuru, Kitui County.
Five brothers and their wives attacked the deceased using crude weapons that included pangas and in the process murdered them.
Tseikuru police boss Ezekiel Chepkon confirmed the incident and said that the family had a land dispute which resulted to the killing of the man and his wife.
“The owner of the land had two wives, the five brothers are from the elder wife and the victim was from the other wife. The man together with his wife were attacked on Monday evening and killed instantly by his brothers,” said Chepkon.
He said that residents reported the incident after which the five brothers together with their wives were arrested and will be arraigned in Kyuso Law Courts after investigations.
“I urge residents to use peaceful means of solving their conflicts. They should use the courts to solve conflicts which they are unable to negotiate and come into a viable solution,” he said.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Matuu Nursing Home mortuary.
