Serious water shortage has hit Kinanie trading centre and its neighbouring areas in Machakos county.
The water shortage that is now running into the second week, has affected the area so much that the residents have now turned to the only seasonal river in the area called 'mto wa mawe' to quench their thirst.
Amongst those affected by the shortage include the health centre, schools, restaurants as well as farmers who depend on irrigation as the area is very dry.
Residents say the water in 'mto wa mawe' is not clean and safe for drinking unless it is treated or boiled.
The shortage is said to have been caused by a hitch in the pumping pipes in the main borehole that supplies the whole area.
Residents have expressed fear that the situation might get worse if the delay in repair takes longer.
