The National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga may get massive backing in Tharaka Nithi County in the repeat election due next month.
Speaking in Tharaka constituency on Sunday, Kindiki said many residents were not contented with the decision but he defended Uhuru saying he personally asked the Jubilee Party leader to give him a less engaging position.
"I am the one who told the President to get someone else because I want to traverse the country in preparation for 2022 elections," he said speaking during a Sunday service at Marimanti Methodist Church.
Senator Kindiki has announced his interest to run for the presidency in the 2022 general elections.
He was replaced as the Senate Majority Leader by Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
But Kindiki maintained as a senator elected on the Jubilee Party ticket, he will continue playing a critical role in national politics.
"I am a player in a team called Jubilee where President Uhuru is the captain, his deputy William Ruto the assistant. The rest are utility players who can play any role provided that we win," Kindiki added, as quoted by the Nation.
