In a letter addressed to Odinga on Thursday, Owalo argued that the party has an obligation to ensure acceptable primaries if it will have to stand the test of time.

Owalo further expressed fear and concern, claiming that there is a scheme by the party to install Odinga's daughter Rosemary Odinga as the presumptive party candidate in Kibra, thereby locking out other candidates in the race.

He further called on the party's top brass to learn from past shambolic Party primaries.

"With all the pre-requisite humility, and based on the catastrophic consequences of botched ODM nominations in the past which are well within your knowledge, my plea to the party is to accord the people of Kibra Constituency and anywhere else... their inalienable democratic right to elect leaders of their choice for all elective positions as per the dictates of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 constitution," he said.
