Kilifi governor Amason Kingi says there is need for intensified civic education on voter registration within the County and the entire Coast region.
He said the region has over one million unregistered voters and that the number could make a huge difference in the coming general election if registered and takes part in the election.
The ODM governor said the party's primary target was to ensure a win in the August election, to 'free Kenyans from the shackles of Jubilee's bad leadership.'
"ODM as a party is working day and night to ensure we bring sober leadership to Kenyans and unite Kenyans from different ethnicity and backgrounds to think and live as one people,'' he said.
"As leaders, we have decided to hire 14 vehicles across the 7 Sub-Counties which will be reminding our people on a daily basis the importance of getting registered as voters and the role they'll play in the coming general election.''
Kilifi County has over 300,000 people with national Identification Cards who are yet to be registered, according to Kingi.
"It's important that people are made aware that their votes will and should count in the coming election to ensure we bring in a Government that will unite all Kenyans and treat them as one people,'' he noted.
