Ganze MP MP Peter Shehe has urged Kilifi County residents to vote out governor Amason Kingi during the August polls.
Speaking on Saturday, the legislator launched a scathing attack on Kingi's administration, accusing the governor of misplaced priorities and mismanagement of devolution funds.
“Governor Kingi missed the priorities of this county from the start. He never called any development meeting with the MPs, and with no advice, he allocated millions of shillings to non-priority activities like to beach volleyball and the Kilifi beauty pageant at the expense of poor Kilifi people,” he noted.
He also called for a lifestyle audit for the outspoken governor, accusing him of plundering county resources at the expense of Kilifi residents.
“The governor has amassed a lot of wealth in these five years he has served. Can he tell the people of Kilifi the source of the millions of cash he is splashing everywhere yet the people are starving?" He posed.
The legislator rallied support for his Kilifi North counterpart Gideon Mung'aro, saying he is the only suited person to unseat Kingi.
“The only way to redeem this county from the pangs of hunger, poverty and poor living standards is by voting him (Kingi) out and his place taken by Mr Mung’aro who is a dedicated leader,” he said.
