Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has accused the Jubilee government of witch hunt, after his county was implicated in a Sh51 million corruption scandal.
Kingi said various leaders from the party have decided to politicise the matter instead of seeking to unveil the truth.
The outspoken leader argued that the government is being “too hard” on him yet corruption cases have been reported in different counties in the nation.
The governor claimed the government is attempting to deliberately link him to the loss of the county funds, yet he is the one who blew the whistle.
Kingi said he is a victim of Jubilee propaganda, adding that leaders from the ruling party want to kill him politically.
"I am the complainant. I have to write a statement because I am the one who reported this matter to Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC). I will record one at Integrity House on Monday about the theft," said Kingi, as quoted by The Standard.
He said his government has exercised transparency when it comes to the use of public funds, hence he should not be victimized.
The governor is set to meet with EACC detectives to shed more light on the issue.
