Joho and Kingi who have over the past two elections been NASA leader Raila Odinga's point men in the region have recently not been close, amid claims that the Kilifi County Chief is charting his own political path away from ODM and Joho.

However, while speaking during an Iftar held in Malindi and attended by Deputy President William Ruto, Kingi dismissed fallout claims terming them as assumptions.

"When I shake hands with William Ruto everyone shouts that I have parted ways with Joho and when Joho shakes hands with Gideon Moi everyone says that he has deserted me. I want to tell you that those are assumptions and they should be treated as such," said Kingi.
