Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has refuted claims that he possesses a yacht and a helicopter.

During a meeting with religious leaders held in Ganze on Thursday, he stated that he purchased a rescue boat for emergency purposes strictly.

"Kilifi borders the Indian Ocean from Mtwapa up to Magarini. We had to set up a coastguard unit to respond to cases of drowning," he said as reported by The Star.

"When I took office in 2013, we purchased 25 fully-equipped ambulances. Ambulances can only operate on land."

He went on to deny claims that he also bought a personal helicopter.

"This helicopter is only known by the Jubilee brigade in Kilifi. They should tell us where it is," the governor stated.

The governor went on to explain how he hired a chopper to transport him from Nairobi to Kilifi for last year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations, however he stated the chopper did not belong to him.

He further criticized his competitors for lacking rhetoric.

The governor asked the public to scrutinize leaders before voting.

Kingi faces former Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi who is vying on a Kadu Asili Party ticket.
