The political scuffle between Coast opposition leaders and President Uhuru Kenyatta seems to be far from over after Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi hit out at the Head of State.
Kingi told off Uhuru, saying he should leave Coast issue to the Coastal people.Addressing members of the public in Malindi, the county boss urged residents to stick with the opposition to ensure the Jubilee government is sent home.He said the national government cannot compare itself with the county administrations as it has access to more funds.“The President is being dishonest with the allocation of money in counties. He lied to people that we receive a lot of money yet most of our projects are donor funded,” said Uhuru.“If we received nine billion shillings from the national government annually, then our county would have transformed economically,” said Kingi. He scoffed at the Jubilee administration for constantly criticising Coast leaders over poverty in the region, saying the move was aimed at tarnishing their image ahead of the polls.“They should also talk about Turkana where people are dying of hunger, why don’t they go and salvage the situation there too. Why are they coming to the Coast at this time? They only need votes and note to uplift the living standards of our people,” added Kingi.Kingi, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and their Taita Taveta counterpart John Mruttu are scheduled to carry out a series of rallies in the Coast region to counter Jubilee.
