Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's running mate William Kingi met with opinion leaders from two constituencies in the county as campaigns for the forthcoming general election intensify.
According to The Star, Kingi held talks with the leaders who comprised clerics, elders, youth and women from Likoni and Mvita constituencies on Monday at the governor’s office.Top on the list of the more than 100 opinion leaders was the high rate of unemployment among the youth which they want Joho’s administration to address.Issues of poor drainage, lack of clean water and crime also featured in the meeting, the daily added.Huessin Ruga from Shika ward lauded Kingi’s choice for the deputy governor's position saying he’ll be a valuable asset to the county.“I believe your professionalism and education will be of great value to us as a county,” said Ruga.On his part, Kingi promised to make the county better if he and Joho win the general election.“The county government has been laying the foundation for development in the last four years. The next four years will be for putting up a building that will last for years,” said Kingi.“We will put in more effort in increasing the revolving funds to ensure more youths, women and people living with disability get funds for businesses,” he added.He was accompanied by county executives and Joho’s advisers.
