Speaking when he attended Iftar dinner in Malindi on Saturday, the governor said that it was through Raila and Uhuru-deal that people like Aden Duale (Garissa Township MP and National Assembly Majority leader) have been able to freely move in his county, a key opposition stronghold.

"Was it not for our father Raila Odinga shaking hands with President Uhuru Kenyatta, people like Duale will not have been welcomed in Malindi today," said Kingi.

While hitting out at those who have endorsed the Deputy President William Ruto in his presidential bid come 2022, the ODM Governor said that that was not the purpose of the handshake.

"It is Raila who gave us the mandate to shake hands but he did not tell us to endorse William Ruto Ruto as the presidential candidate come 2022," he added.

Kingi has declared his interest to vie for President come the 2022 general election.
