Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi moved in to water down Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro’s growing influence in the race for the county top seat by raiding his turf on Wednesday.
Kingi who is facing an uphill task to defend his seat took the ODM and NASA gospel to Kibarani Ward, Kilifi North constituency with his move coming amid Mung’aro’s resurgence.The ward is also home to ODM candidate for the county Women Rep position Gertrude Mbeyu.The county chief who took stock of what his administration has achieved over the last four years, asked the locals to support his re-election.While dismissing Mung’aro’s candidature, the former Magarini MP claimed that Mung’aro’s bid is suspicious as he has been pushed by his ‘masters’ who are keen undermine development in the county.The Governor who drummed up support for the NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga said Raila’s administration will ensure equity across the country and transform the lives of Kenyans.He further asked the locals to vote for ODM candidates, adding that the county is an opposition zone.
